The first signs of spring are here as green shoots are starting to appear along the woodland floor at Center Parcs. Soon the forest will begin to transform to a luscious green wonderland and birdsong will echo through the trees. A time of new growth, there will be lots of beautiful nature for you and your family to seek out. Here’s what you can expect to find in the forest this spring!

Spring blooms

Snowdrops and daffodils are starting to appear and very soon the forest will become filled with bright colours. Bees will soon be buzzing from flower to flower, working hard to pollinate. Did you know we have 40-50 bee houses at each of our villages?

New life begins

Our lakes are home to a thriving population of ducks, geese, and swans and from March onwards, you could be lucky enough to witness their tiny, fluffy babies taking their first steps in the world. Bring your camera, this is not a sight to be missed!

Our villages host plenty of wildlife and now is a wonderful time to spot them. Look under rocks for creepy crawlies, look up in the trees for birds, see friendly squirrels playing and maybe even meet a deer on your lodge patio!

A whole host of wildlife

The wildlife varies at each village, from fallow deer at Longford Forest to mischievous muntjacs – a guest favourite at our Woburn and Elveden Forest villages. Elveden Forest even has its own celebrity deer called Marvin! He’s become increasingly popular on social channels with our guests as he gets closer to them than any other deer would dare!

If you’re visiting our Longford or Whinfell Forest villages, you might even be lucky enough to spot some red squirrels! Extremely rare in the UK, you can learn more about these creatures with our Red Squirrel Family Adventure, where you and your little ones can take part in specially themed activities and embark on a squirrel trail!

Nature Walk

Looking for a guided tour? Explore the joys of seeking out the woodland creatures in their natural habitat with our Nature Walk. Possible sights include woodpeckers, colourful fungi and other bright and beautiful birds and wildlife. You’ll be guided by our experienced rangers who will use their specialist knowledge to tell you more about our diverse seasonal displays.

Build a Nature House

Celebrate spring with your little ones and Build a Nature House for birds, butterflies or bats. Take your creation home and give it pride of place in your garden to provide a safe haven for wildlife and hours of watching pleasure on your doorstep.

There’s so much to see in the forest this spring. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled and have your camera at the ready! We love to see your photographs, so don’t forget to share them with us on social media using #myCP.
