Things to do this August bank holiday

Body Content

With the last bank holiday until Christmas insight and most of us pining over last year’s holiday memories or the tropical destination we were supposed to be at before the world experienced a global pandemic. It is time to get your spirits up and make the most of your last bit of summer by scheduling in some well-deserved family time with a ‘holiday at home’ this bank holiday.

Get adventurous

Whether it rains or shines building a den is always a good idea. From the back garden under a tree to a cupboard under the stairs, wherever or however you make your den, you can get the whole family involved in this childhood classic. Get your imagination going building your very own little kingdom then spend the rest of the day cosying up in your new den together watching films and playing games. Check out our post on how to build an ultimate den for some expert tips and tricks.

If you are visiting us at Center Parcs try our activities Den Building and Decorating or Forest Fortress Den Build to build your own den in the great outdoors using the forest’s natural resources. Search for leaves, sticks and twigs to develop your structure and transform it into a woodland retreat.

Unleash your creativity

Whilst you are at home with your little ones get imaginative with some simple crafts with the things you’ve got lying around the house. Gather up any old egg cartons, popsicle sticks, scraps of cardboard, or just generally anything you no longer have a use for, some scissors, glue and felt tip pens and see what you can create.

At Center Parcs, get your creative juices flowing during your break at our Pottery Painting Studio. A great activity for all generations, you can get stuck in painting your chosen piece of pottery as delicate or whacky as you like which will be professionally glazed and fired.

Relax and unwind

There’s no better time to sit back and relax than on a long weekend. Having a sofa day is just what the doctor ordered after months of juggling homeschooling and working from home. Grab your snacks and a blanket and cosy up on the sofa with your loved ones and watch a movie.

Or if you are with us in the forest, start your bank holiday the right way with a visit to Aqua Sana Spa. Catch up on some important sleep with our indoor and outdoor chill-out spaces with comfortable seating and cosy blankets, so you leave feeling relaxed and revitalised, ready to get back to normality.

Enjoy tasty treats

Pancakes do not have to be just for breakfast. Change things up on your break and pre-book a table at The Pancake House for a delicious afternoon treat. After a morning packed with exploring the forest and fun activities, fill up on something sweet or savoury while overlooking the peaceful lake.

If you are on your ‘holiday at home’ get imaginative with some baking and decorating with your little ones. Nothing can satisfy your sweet tooth like some home-baked goods, try our quick choc and nut biscuits for those chocolate lovers or get transported to a fairground with our delicious doughnut holes.

Got a fear of missing out and want to visit the forest next August bank holiday? Get a break booked or discover more about what you can do on your long weekend at Center Parcs today.
