Your guide to picnics at Center Parcs

Nothing says ‘summer’s here’ like a picnic on a sunny day. We think food tastes better al fresco, so why not plan a picnic as part of your summer break? From buying a delicious family feast at ParcMarket to choosing the best Center Parcs picnic spot, here’s everything you need to know to help you plan your perfect picnic at Center Parcs.

Step one: head into ParcMarket to buy your picnic feast

ParcMarket sells everything you’ll need to create a delicious picnic the whole family will love - even fussy eaters! You’ll find freshly made sandwiches and baguettes with a variety of delicious fillings, plus wraps, salads, pasta pots and quiches. Visit our bakery for warm sausage rolls, pasties, potato wedges and more, or pick up olives, sundried tomatoes and artichokes from the deli counter.

It’s important to stay hydrated, so why not quench your thirst with a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice? And of course, don’t forget to get something sweet for afterwards - a handful of Lindt chocolates, delicious ice cream, luxury mini cheesecakes from the bakery or a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts are sure to go down a treat.

If you have specific dietary requirements, check out our ‘Free From’ products – including gluten-free desserts from our bakery.

Step two: choose your perfect picnic spot

All six of our Center Parcs villages are jam-packed with idyllic picnic spots. From waterside views to adventure play areas to secret hideaways, you can take your pick!

Waterside views

For a picnic spot with a beautiful view, head down to our watersports lake. This is one of the most popular spots for enjoying a picnic, and for good reason! Settle down at a picnic table and sit and enjoy a sunny afternoon spotting wildlife and watching the boats sail by.

Adventure play areas

Our adventure play areas are surrounded by picnic tables so that little adventurers can let off steam whilst the grown-ups relax. You’ll find a brand-new children’s adventure play area outside Sports Café at Elveden Forest, with a large castle, theatre stage and carousel. If you’re going to Longleat Forest, check out the impressive adventure play area by the Plaza, whilst at Sherwood Forest you’ll find a picnic spot at The Country Club with a play area, maze and outdoor activities.

Hidden gems

Prefer the peace and quiet? Each of our villages have a selection of secluded picnic areas which are a little off the beaten track – you just need to know where to look! At Woburn Forest, you’ll find a hidden picnic area next to the Rangers Lodge, with a trickling stream nearby. If you’re heading to Whinfell Forest, there’s a secret suntrap near the Nature Discovery Area where you can sit and watch the dragonflies as they skim across the pond. Visiting Longford Forest? You’ll find a lovely hidden gem of a picnic area tucked away in the Nature Discovery Area, just a stone’s throw away from The Coffee House On the Go so that you can sip tea or coffee with your picnic.

Chestnut’s Picnic

Are your little ones ready for lots of fun in the sun? Join our friendly squirrel character Chestnut on this lovely, lively activity for you and your child to enjoy together. It includes songs and stories, party games and a packed lunch for little ones. Ages 2 – 5 years.
